From October 1 to November 2. – The City Council of Barcelona placed banners on 15 central streets to announce the events that took place in the city to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
Monday, October 2. – The classes of the course 2017-2018 began in the Evangelical Center of Biblical Studies (CEEB, in Spanish).
Friday, October 6, at 7:30 p.m. – A United Service of Prayer was held in our church for the situation of Catalunya.
Saturday, October 7 (POSTPONED). – The organizers of the 32nd Evangelical Olympic Games, that had to be held at the Joan Serrahima Stadium in Montjuïc (Barcelona), decided to postpone them on the recommendation of the competent authorities in citizen security. The sports day was moved to Saturday, November 11.
Wednesday, October 18, at 8:30 p.m. – “Protestant Reformation Concert (500 years of Protestantism)”, organized by the Alianza Evangélica Española, the Consell Evangèlic de Catalunya and the Grupos Bíblicos Unidos. It took place at the Hall 1 – Pau Casals, of the Barcelona Auditorium. It counted on the participation of the María de Bohórquez Symphonic Orchestra (Baroque orchestral group) and the Lancaster Bible College Choir from Pennsylvania (United States).
Musical program:
-Hymn “Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott (A Mighty Fortress is Our God)”, performed to four voices by soloists and camera group.
-Cantata “Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott (A Mighty Fortress is Our God)”, BWV 80, by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by the Maria de Bohórquez Symphonic Orchestra and the Lancaster Bible College Choir.
–“Symphony No. 5 in D Major, Op. 107”, known as the “Reformation”, by Felix Mendelssohn, peformed by the Maria de Bohórquez Symphonic Orchestra.
From October 22. – Our church has participated one more year in Operation Christmas Child, international project of Samaritan’s Purse, coordinated in Spain by Decisión, to send gifs to children of poor countries. As a novelty, this year they have proposed us as a place of collection and training. The boxes were filled with school and hygiene supplies, toys, etc. In total, 41,288 boxes were collected throughout Spain.
From October 25 to November 29. – The Consell Evangèlic de Catalunya organized the Cycle of conferences “El llegat de la Reforma (The Legacy of the Reformation)” in the Centre Cívic Golferichs House (491, Gran Via) in Barcelona. Free entrance.

Saturday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m. – TVE broadcasted live by La2 the Reformation Service that was held at the General Lacy Evangelical Church in Madrid. Speakers included Raquel Molina (professor of Theology), Mario Escobar (historian), Andy Wickham (director of the RZ Foundation) and the musical participation of Ensemble Bohórquez.

Saturday, October 28, in the morning. – The organizers of Operation Christmas Child in Barcelona offered a class in our church to explain the project in schools to encourage them to collaborate.
Sunday, October 29, in the morning. – We received a group of brothers from the Romanian Baptist Church of Turó to celebrate a united fraternal Service. They returned the visit we gave to their church on February 12. They shared with us a time of praise and the biblical message was given by Pastor Yan Sysoev.
Tuesday, October 31, at noon. – TV3 offered in the Telenotícies migdia the report “500 anys d’esglésies protestants a Europa i a casa nostra (500 years of Protestant Churches in Europe and in Catalonia)”, recorded almost entirely in our church. In it, our pastor Benjamín López explained how evangelical churches express their faith today.
Tuesday, October 31, in the afternoon. – A cultural (non-religious) event led by Josep Lluís Carod-Rovira in commemoration of the Protestant Reformation was held in the CaixaFòrum auditorium in Barcelona. Several evangelical leaders and journalists read one by one the 95 theses that Martin Luther nailed, according to the tradition, in the door of the cathedral of Wittenberg 500 years ago.
Tuesday, October 31, at 7:00 p.m. – In the Commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, the evangelical churches of all Spain gave a joint testimony on this day through “500 solemn Services of Thanksgiving and Proclamation of the Gospel and the great values of the Reformation” in 500 Spanish cities. In Barcelona, the event took place at the Evangelical Church of Mistral Avenue, 85-87.
Tuesday, October 31. – We celebrated in our church the traditional brotherly Supper of the Castanyada, with a barbecue and soiree with games.
Sunday, November 5, at 9:30 a.m. – Before the morning Service, the sisters of the church met in their November “Desayuno con diamantes (Breakfast with diamonds)”. Loida gave the biblical message.
Saturday, November 11, all day. – Despite the postponement in October and after several unexpected events, the 32nd Evangelical Olympiad was finally held at the Joan Serrahima Stadium in Montjuïc (Barcelona), organized by the Pocket Testament League – Spain. 10 children were registered from our church.
Sunday, November 12, in the morning. – A part of the morning Service was dedicated to give a report about the participation the previous day in the Evangelical Olympiad, besides the parade of our young athletes and the delivery of diplomas.
From November 21 to 28. – Our church organized a series of three conferences about the Protestant Reformation by Juan Salvador. They were the following:

-Sunday 26, at 6:00 p.m.: “Luther and the Protestant Reformation in Germany”
-Tuesday 28, at 7:00p.m.: “The extension of the Reformation across Europe”
Wednesday, November 22, at 7:00 p.m. – Presentation of the Interconfessional Bible in Catalan, commemorative edition of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. It took place in Claret Bookstore of Barcelona and was organized by the Consell Evangèlic de Catalunya (CEC). Guillem Correa (CEC secretary-general), Josep Lluís Carod-Rovira (author of the book Història del Protestantisme als Països Catalans – History of Protestantism in the Catalan Countries) and Josep Lluís Andavert (Bible Society of Spain managing director) participated.
From Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 December. – XXXIII National Meeting of GBG in Cullera (Valencia). Under the title “The Strength of Weakness”, more than 240 Christian professionals, including lawyers, psychologists, Christians in Sciences, social workers, economists, doctors, teachers and communicators, graduates from Spain and other countries analyzed the influence of the Protestant Reformation in their professional fields.
Friday, December 15, from 6:30 p.m. – The Choir of our church participated, along with other neighborhood choirs, in the “Advent Coral 2017” that was held in the Plenary Hall of the Sants-Montjuïc district. Our choir sang the following Christmas carols:

Sunday, December 17, in the morning. – In the morning Service we had a special program with time of praise, Biblical readings for Christmas, the Lord’s Supper, Choir concert and piano participations.
Sunday, December 17, in the afternoon. – The afternoon Service was not celebrated in our church, because we visited the brothers of the Evangelical Church of Paral.lel (Barcelona). There our Choir interpreted his repertoire of carols.
Saturday, December 23, at 9:00 p,m. – Sants 3 Ràdio broadcasted a compilation of the “Advent Coral 2017” songs in its program “Agenda clàssica”, where the Choir of our church took part on December 15th.
Sunday, December 24, at 11:00 a.m. – We had the Christmas Service of the children of the Sunday School at our church.
Monday, December 25, at 9:00 a.m. – TVE issued on La2 a Special Christmas Program organized by the Spanish Evangelical churches. It was recorded last Sunday 17 at the “Nueva Vida” Church in Madrid, where around 1,500 people attended. The biblical message was preached by the pastor of the congregation, Tomás Santa Marta.

Sunday, December 31. – New Year’s Eve Dinner (after 8:30 p.m.) and Service for the New 2018 (at 11:00 p.m.) with musical participations, biblical readings and prayer.
During the month of December. – Two calendars for 2018 could be acquired. One, from “La Buena Semilla (The Good Seed)”; another, from “Emmanuel Child Residence”. Also the “Notas Diarias (Daily Notes)” from Unión Bíblica (Scripture Union) for the first half of the year.
From October 17, 2017 to January 14, 2018. – Exhibition at CaixaFòrum in Barcelona: “500 years of Protestant Reformation”, to commemorate this event from a historical and cultural point of view. Tickets: 4 euros (50% discount for CaixaBank clients).
