2026: April to June

Sunday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m. – Easter Sunday Service. Several activities took place, including readings (John 19:17-30 and John 20:1ff.), Dorel and Maria sang in Romanian “E viu, e viu, mormântul Lui e gol” (He Is Alive, He Is Alive, His Tomb Is Empty) and Esther García recited the poem “Aquellas benditas manos” (Those Blessed Hands). For Holy Communion, Pastor Daniel Zoppetti reminded that Jesus demonstrated that He is life through his resurrection miracles. Pastor Daniel also spoke about Enoch, an Old Testament man who did not experience the death and is a symbol of God’s grace and eternal life. The epistle of Jude tells that Enoch walked with God (he pleased God), and he is an example for us, one that should make us reflect on our walk with the Lord.

In his sermon, our pastor, Benjamí López, posed a question: have we ever asked ourselves if we take Jesus seriously? In the Bible we see many people who sought Jesus: the Magi, His parents in the temple, those seeking a miracle, the women who went to the tomb, the disciples (Peter and John) who wanted to verify whether or not Jesus was in the tomb… Today, many people also seek Jesus, but they do not find Him. According to John 20:9, the key to seeking Jesus is knowing the Scriptures; He cannot be found anywhere else. He is found understanding Jesus’ Word and overcoming any prejudices, such as those of Mary Magdalene, who believed Jesus’ body had been taken away, or Mary, who mistook him for the gardener. The encounter with the risen Jesus is the beginning of proclaiming His message. First, there is an encounter; then, He is truly recognized as the risen Jesus, and from there, His message of salvation is shared. Thomas was not with the disciples and could not receive the message. His faith was weak: he was neither with the others, nor did he believe them when they told him they had seen the risen Jesus. This demonstrates that we must look at Jesus with the eyes of faith.
